A Celebration of Life with Governor Sarah Palin and Susan B. Anthony List
Susan B. Anthony List held their “Celebration of Life” breakfast in the Ronald Reagan Building featuring guest speaker Governor Sarah Palin. And, Governor Palin didn’t disappoint with her remarks regarding the sanctity of life and the upcoming 2010 elections – how conservative, pro-life women have a real opportunity this coming election to make a difference! www.teamsarah.org
Base Connect is committed to the “cause of life” along with the Susan B. Anthony List in that we will not do work for or support any candidate running for office who is not committed to protecting the sanctity of life. This is deep rooted in our corporate philosophy – what other issue out there is more important than protecting the most fragile and vulnerable in our society? So, we were more than happy to agree to be on the Host Committee for this terrific event! For more information how you can help visit them at: www.sba-list.org

Save the Date and Honor Conservative Great Jim Martin!
Base Connect is excited to be a Sponsor for a “Tribute Dinner for Chairman Jim Martin” of the 60 Plus Association to be held on July 15, 2010!
60 Plus has been a long term client of Base Connect, and we are honored to be part of their team. They have really made an impact on the Health Care debate over the past few months with their never ending array of commercials fighting against Obamacare and how this legislation will hurt America’s seniors. www.60plus.org
Jim has been fighting the good fight for America’s seniors for decades now and it’s truly fitting that there be a night set aside to honor this great conservative who has been in the trenches for so many years!
Congratulations Jim!

Jim Martin with Roy Ennis at the 2010 CPAC.

Team Base Connect Joins Congresswoman Michele Bachmann and Thousands of Great Americans At the Capitol To Show Our Opposition to Obama-Pelosi Care.
It was a beautiful day for a protest! We felt so inspired by standing should to shoulder with about 20,000 Americans from all over this great land in strong opposition to the government take over of our health care system. It was Congresswoman Michele Bachmann who casually mentioned it on a talk show that if we wanted to stop this huge government power grab we needed to show up at the “People’s House” and demand it be stopped! Members of Congress as well as some celebrities also showed their support of “killing this bill” including Mark Levin, John Voight, John Ratzenberger, Minority Leader John Boehner, Congressman Paul Broun, Eric Cantor, Marsha Blackburn as well as many others.
Copies of the bill were handed out to the crowd – my husband and I received page 112 – and were instructed to go to our Representative’s office to have that particular page explained. As you can see from the picture – after opening all the entrances, lines extended well into the streets.
The majority of Americans who are footing the bill for this runaway spending and government expansion are worried especially for the very young and the very old of our country.
Who Says Conservatives Don't Have Big Hearts?
Helping Others: A People Responsibility, Not a Government One
Base Connect is a proud sponsor of the Persecution Project Foundation. The Persecution Project Foundation was founded in 1997 by our good friend Brad Phillips to mobilize Christians to help victims of genocide, civil war and religious persecution in Southern Sudan and Darfur. PPF brings crisis relief and spiritual hope to these victims by offering ground assistance in a place the United Nations has designated a "red no-go" area.
PPF is helping rebuild communities by building clinics, providing educational programs, supporting orphanages and many other humanitarian acts of kindness. Their new program is the 100 Wells Campaign and we were so happy to be a part of it!
Helping others is most effective when it is a "people responsibility," not a government one. Personally, I found it appalling when the then-candidate Barack Obama and his running mate Joe Biden released their tax returns, how very little they actually did to help others out of their own pocket... We are so thankful to be a part of this 100 Wells project. Tangible results—our contributions go directly to dig one of these 100 wells with no bureaucracy – no waste. It will bring clean water to about 300 people within the year – how neat is that? If you too would like to get involved, please go to their website www.persecutionproject.org
Brad and his family have sacrificed so much to help the people of this ravaged and brutalized region and we pray for their continued safety and success!
~ Blessings, KB
Politics Magazine Invites Kimberly Bellissimo to Speak on Direct Mail
Jordan Lieberman, president of the magazine says, "The Campaigns & Elections Magazines Campaign Training Seminars are a win-win opportunity. Attendees get to hear from the best and brightest in the campaign industry while practitioners have an opportunity to network with colleagues they may rarely get to see face-to-face." Kimberly joined a panel on, what else, direct mail fundraising. She got a great reception from the attendees. "It was a lot of fun and I made a few really good contacts," said Kimberly.
A Tribute to Conservative Great, Howard Phillips

Historic Celebration of The Conservative Caucus' 35th Anniversary – October 29, 2009
Base Connect Founder and President Kimberly Bellissimo, along with Congressman Ron Paul, Bruce Eberle and others honor her good friend and mentor, Howard Phillips:
Good evening everybody!
Although I am one who prefers to work behind the scenes, I couldn't miss this opportunity to honor someone that is very dear to me in so many ways.
I first met Howard Phillips at an exciting time for conservatives—it was 1986—the height of the Cold War. I was a member of Young Americans for Freedom and at the time it was a very relevant conservative youth organization that was started by William F. Buckley in Sharon, Connecticut.
And on my campus at The George Washington University it was actually cool to be in YAF and cool to be a conservative—my, how times have changed!
In 1988 I graduated from GW and a few months later, still unemployed but having a good time fighting the Commies, I was to lose my second parent—my Dad who passed away unexpectedly—but there was a blessing to be bestowed upon me by God and I am forever thankful to this day.
Just a week before my best friend Michael Centanni was able to get me an interview at the agency that was doing the fundraising for Young Americans for Freedom—the Re-election of Jesse Helms—and the Conservative Caucus. The agency was the "who's who" of conservative groups, causes and candidates. And I really wanted to work there. How cool was that? And of course I wooed them with my charm and intelligence and I found out the day my Dad passed away that I was finally gainfully employed!
I was to stay at that agency, Bruce Eberle & Associates for the next 13 years working directly under the best—Bruce Eberle and Declan Bransfield—and Howard was my first client and remained my client throughout my entire tenure with Bruce and Deck.
Working with Howard and The Conservative Caucus was very exciting! (Those of you who know him well know he is a tireless warrior who never stops and gets only a handful of hours sleep a night!) And Howard was all over the place! He was working hard to push for the confirmation of William Rehnquist and Antonin Scalia to the Supreme Court.
And backed by TCC, President Reagan—yes, remember when we had a real President? He agreed to end the voluntary compliance to a SALT II Agreement that was very beneficial to the Soviet Union.
Howard, also along with then White House Communications Director Pat Buchanan, drafted President Reagan's veto message concerning sanctions on South Africa.
There were Freedom Fighters all over the globe—the Contras in Nicaragua, the Mujahedeen in Afghanistan and Jonas Savimbi and UNITA in Angola—we were always fighting Communism because it seemed like it was everywhere. Howard led the charge against the "Red Tide"—and I'm not talking Alabama Football! And Howard was really in the thick of it! And I learned so much in that TCC conference room about all of it.
Howard subsequently nominated me to the Council for National Policy that was started by Howard and a few key members of Ronald Reagan's Cabinet. I now serve on the Board of Governors for that organization.
At my wedding 3 years ago, I gave a special tribute to all three of these men who took such good care of me for my Dad, although they didn't know it at the time. It was Howard specifically who taught me everything I know about being a "hard core" conservative – and how most politicians will sell their soul if the right opportunity presents itself—and doing the right thing always trumps the wrong or expedite thing—and what equal opportunity really means for a woman in the movement. Please note – there are NEVER any hyphenations, and "Ms." NEVER appears in a real woman's title! And women in the movement are happy to bake cookies or buy helicopters – whatever is needed!
Howard's tireless service to the movement—his family, his Christian principles, his unabashed conservatism and finally his mentoring to so many young people like myself because it really helped shape who I am as a conservative—a woman, a wife and now the owner of my own business helping a new generation of conservatives. So the cycle will continue—perhaps another small part of Howard's legacy to us all. I owe him so much and it's probably why I also am so passionate about helping other conservatives find their place in our movement.
Ronald Reagan said back in 1982, "There is a flickering spark in us all which, if struck at just the right age... can light the rest of our lives."
So thank you Howard for being there for me and the movement—for being that continued "Conscience of a Conservative"—you have been an amazing part of my journey and two former volunteers for Barry Goldwater are up there in heaven smiling down on you tonight saying "thank you" too!

Congressman Tim Walberg for Congress
Base Connect is excited to team up with conservative Congressman Tim Walberg to help him fight to capture his Michigan Congressional seat back. This folks should be a slam dunk pick up for the GOP. Right now a committed tried-and-true Obama Liberal is now occupying the seat that Tim used to sit in. The country needs Tim to fight for this seat back!
Congressman Walberg is a champion for the American taxpayer and received the “Taxpayer Hero” award from the Citizens Against Government Waste in 2008. His opponent, Mark Schauer, votes straight down the party line of the Nancy Pelosi Democrats. He loves spending the taxpayers’ money with reckless abandon. He voted for “Cap & Trade” – Michigan has been one of the hardest hit places in the country under the Obama regime – and the people there have even had to endure income tax increases along with sales tax increases on services. Can you believe that? Let’s help Tim send this guy packing.
Go to www.walbergforcongress.com for more information on the issues and how you can get involved.
Base Connect Adds Three Candidates to Its Elite Stable of Powerhouse Candidates for the 2010 Cycle!
Jay Riemersma for Congress
Jay played football for the University of Michigan and went on to the NFL to play for the Buffalo Bills and the Pittsburgh Steelers respectively. Jay is running for U.S. Rep. Peter Hoekstra’s 2nd District seat in western Michigan. Hoekstra, a Republican, has announced his candidacy for governor in 2010. We are excited to be a part of this race because Jay is exactly what Washington needs right now. Jay is not a career politician; he’s a solid pro-life conservative who is ready to go to Washington and stand up against the radical Obama agenda. Visit Jay's website, www.jayriemersma.com, to support him in his run for Congress. Jay, we are rooting for you!
Sharron Angle for Senate
Sharron is a four term Republican member of the Nevada Assembly—representing the 26th district from 1999 to 2005—and is a Republican candidate for the United State Senate. As a champion for the taxpayer, Sharron was the author of Nevada’s Property Tax Reform Initiative. Assemblyman Angle has a long and impressive resume in the State Assembly in Nevada Public Service. She plans on raising money from coast to coast to defeat the liberal democratic machine—starting with A-1 target, Senator Harry Reid. We are dedicated to helping her find the national money to bring him down! To support Sharron Angle for Senate, visit www.sharronangle.com.
Les Phillip for Congress

We are thrilled to be working with Les! We couldn’t agree more with the ringing endorsement he’s received from Governor Mike Huckabee! It is our honor to have the Governor help us in this national fundraising effort.
An immigrant to America at the age of 8 who later got his American citizenship, Les Phillip is truly an inspiring American success story. We are honored to be enlisted by this retired naval aviator! Click here to read more.
